Kevin Lee Kellel, 56 of San Antonio, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He was born on August 23, 1955 in Ft. Knox, KY. A military brat, Kevin's family lived all over the world and were witnesses to history. The family was in Landstuhl, Germany during the 50's when Elivs was there and were eyewitnesses to JFK's funeral in Washington, DC in 1963. They also lived in San Francisco during the "Summer of Love" in 1967. His family settled in San Antonio in the fall of 1967. Kevin graduated from MacArthur High School in 1973 and received a B.B.A. in Business Management from The University of Texas at Austin in 1977. After graduating, Kevin worked for Moore Business Forms in Austin before returning to San Antonio in 1978 where he held positions with several food brokerage firms as well as Nintendo Corp. In 1993, he joined the family business with Antiquarian Book Mart where he was partner and co-owner with his brother, Bob, until his death. On November 10, 1984, he married Kimberly Jane Stelzer in Austin, TX. Kevin was an avid sports fan. He was on the California All-Stars as a pitcher for 2 years as well as playing football for MacArthur High School. Throughout his life, he was a constant companion to his wife. Together, they enjoyed attending and watching many sporting events especially the Texas Longhorns, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to such destinations as Las Vegas, NV, Ruidoso, NM, Lake Tahoe, Reno, NV, San Diego, CA, New Orleans, LA, Tunica, MS, Miami's South Beach, and various places in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. He was also a huge Jeopardy watcher. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Marie Kellel, and his mother-in-law, Janet Finnie Stelzer. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 27.5 years, Kimberly "Kim" Stelzer Kellel; father, Col. Frank Kellel, Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.); brother, Robert Frank Kellel and his wife Brenda Elizabeth; nieces Tyla Michelle and Laura Marie all of San Antonio. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Fritz Stelzer of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Kathryn Ann Stelzer and life partner Shelley Ingram; nephews Henry Green Ingram and John Finnie (Jack) Ingram all of Austin. Kevin is also survived by an uncle, Dallas Cantrell of Alberta, Canada as well as several cousins and dear friends. Also surviving, is his special "canine" companion, Layla. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a gathering at Crumpet's Restaurant following the service. Gunuganti for their treatment and care over the past several years.
