I am sad to report that Johnny Pollock unexpectedly passed away. I do not know whether there will be a service or gathering of family and friends but will update you if I hear anything.
I have been blessed for the last several years to have spent a lot of time with John on the ranch he managed in South Texas. I will cherish these memories for the remainder of my life. I will miss those phone calls we had a few times a week. Rest in peace deer whisperer.
There are several St. Plus X alumni who gravitated to Mac Arthur, and amazingly quite a few are listed in the in memorial section. John was one of them, and was among my first friends at St. Pius after we moved to San Antonio in time for 2nd grade. I remember him as an always pleasant and even keel person. He also was always a great athlete. Please rest in peace.

John Henry Pollock, affectionately known as Johnny or John Henry to his family and close friends, passed away at his home on Faith Ranch on August 11, 2026, at the age of 71.
Johnny was an avid outdoorsman and had a way with animals that seemed almost like a second language - never meeting a creature he couldn't win over. He brought that same magnetism to people, too. A natural storyteller, the kind who could turn an ordinary afternoon into something worth remembering, and his laugh - loud, easy, and utterly contagious.
Nothing brought him more joy than a good steak, a glass of Crown...or two, evening strolls on the ranch with his dog looking for shed antlers and Indian points, and above all, watching and rewatching videos of his grandchildren's shenanigans!
He is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Wynne Pollock, his father, O.L. Pollock, and his two brothers.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Cara Pollock Sims, son-in-law, Josh Sims, grandchildren Mary Katherine, Ivy, Hill, Birdie, and Helen, his six sisters, and dear friends.
In lieu of a service, the family invites friends to share their favorite memories of Johnny.
